My Work

After achieving my first music teaching qualification (LTCL), I went on to study classical piano and voice at the Birmingham Conservatoire. I studied with Mark Racz, now Deputy Principal at the Royal Academy of Music, graduating with a 1st class BA hons degree. I studied at the Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in London, and undertook a Masters Degree at Manchester University.

Piano Lessons in Eastbourne / Singing Lessons in Eastbourne
I have a wealth of piano and vocal teaching experience, working with students of all ages and abilities, from the raw beginner to the advanced diploma student. I am experienced in teaching students with specific needs such as dyslexia, dyspraxia and visual / hearing impairment.

As a singer I specialise in Musical Theatre and Pop styles drawing largely on the Estill system. In piano I teach Classical and Pop. I have an excellent pass rate in entering my students for graded exams with well over 100 successes to date. Many of my students perform regularly at concerts and festivals. More importantly though, all my students thoroughly enjoy their lessons.

My teaching career has included tutoring at the Leeds College of Music and at Access to Music. I was recently interviewed about my work at the college by Pianist Magazine. I have also designed and delivered music workshops for children exploiting the numerous beneficial effects of music exploration on the child’s educational and social development. Indeed whilst volunteering in the Atlas Mountains in Morocco and in Kathmandu, Nepal over the last few years, l’ve been delighted to hold music workshops with the local children, promoting the use of song and movement to aid learning and team work.

As part of a song writing duo Baker Cowan I have co-written 4 albums. Our work has been performed on TV including Castle In The Country (BBC2) and at theatres around the UK. We wrote the dark musical ‘The Fallen Angel Show’ which we took to the Edinburgh Festival in 2015. The Fringe Review said it was a ‘magical hour of musical theatre’. We also wrote the musical play ‘Really Really Want’ which enjoyed a successful run at York Theatre Royal in November 2016 and at Komedia, Brighton, 2018.

We love collaborating and are currently working with the fabulous Gracie Falls (Unsigned Singer/Songwriter of the Year 2016-17), Livvy Rooks, and Kate Peters, among others.

I am delighted to be a member of Key Largo Trio performing at events and weddings. We play all styles of music from pop to classical. In this video we’re showcasing some of our favourite vintage songs.

I perform classical music in concerts…

… and solo as a pianist/singer at all kinds of public events and parties. See

I also perform as part of the quirky band Vesper Walk.

I have also been privileged to perform as a key soloist of YC Gospel Choir, at exciting venues including the Grand Opera House and Castle Howard.

If you ever wondered what a singing and piano teacher does in her coffee break, this is a song I recently recorded live and acoustic in my practice room in a short gap between students. 🎶
